Keilir Aviation Academy graduated 22 aviation mechanics on 15 January at Andrews Theater in Keflavik Iceland. This was the first graduation class of aviation mechanics from Keilir and AST (Air Service Training) in Scotland.
Hjalmar Arnason, Managing Director of Keilir, and Arni Mar Andresson, Training Manager at Keilir Aviation Academy, presented graduates with their certificates. The first aviation mechanic to graduate from the programme was Atli Thor Tryggvason, which received acknowledgement with his graduation certificate. Gudmundur Hallur Hallsson received acknowledgement for best overall achievement in aviation mechanics with a grade average of 8,84 (out of 10). He received book gifts from ITS and Isavia.
John Dobney, Senior Manager at Perth Campus, gave a speech on behalf of AST. Interviewed after the graduation ceremony he said that the people at Air Service Training were immensely proud of the partnership with Keilir. John added: "To see the graduation of the first batch of aircraft engineering students first hand is an immense honour for me personally and a wonderful reflection of the excellent standard of aviation training taking place here in Keflavik".
Örvar Snær Birkisson gave the commencement speech on behalf of the graduating class from Keilir Aviation Academy.
