Icelanders of foreign origin interested in obtaining education

A recent survey by Keilir Academy shows that more than 82% of people of foreign descent over 18 years old in Iceland are interested in obtaining additional education.

The survey - which was conducted online in March 2021 - was done in both Polish and English and focused primarily on educational needs and interest.

A total of 170 people completed the survey which shows that approximately 89% of Polish inhabitants living in Iceland and 78% of people of other origin (English speaking) claim interest in continuing their education in Iceland.

The survey showed that language barriers was the most common reason people had for not taking part in any education. Among educational interests were media, vocational education, administration, and tourism.

Magdalena Maria Poslednik, project manager at Keilir Academy, constructed the survey. Magdalena is currently working on developing educational possibilities at Keilir for non-native Icelanders. She has completed a BS degree in Tourism from University of Iceland and MS degree in marketing from University of Reykjavik.
