Keilir Institute of Technology (KIT) recently signed a contract with Phoenix Contact EduNet, using ILC130 starterkit stations and software, for student training in Programmable Logic Controllers.
Phoenix Contact is one of the leaders in manufacturing industrial automation solutions. EduNet was established to increase an international transfer of knowledge and technology. The “International Education Network (EduNet)“ was founded in 2007 and right now has 27 partners from all around the world (Poland, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Ireland, China, Singapore).
In 2011 KIT signed contract with Phoenix Contact and became an official member of EduNet. Keilir received six ILC130 Starterkit stations and software, which will be used for training in
Programmable Logic Controllers. As a member of EduNet Keilir will also take part in conferences, training and competitions offered by Phoenix Contact.
Currently the equipment is being tested and setup in KIT's mechatronics lab. In coming weeks KIT staff member will attend seminars in Germany focused on using Phoenix Contact's equipment for
teaching purposes. By the Spring 2012 KIT will offer new courses for engineering technology students studying mechatronics focusing on work with EduNet devices. More info at Phoenix Contact EduNet website
