Keilir Insititute of Technology has installed a wind turbine on the Keilir campus named "Kári" (Icelandic for wind and name of the old Nordic God of the North Wind). This 100 W turbine is designed to withstand the hardest weather conditions and has been used in more than 100 locations all around Iceland. Energy Research ltd will use this system for research and training.

The project is generously supported by HS-Orka energy company, Kadeco and Reykjanesbaer Municipality. In coming weeks Kári will be equipped with wind speed and temperature sensors. The data logged in this station will be used by Icelandic Meteorological Office and is registered in Metoffice database as Asbru #1351.
